Family Values Inspired by Kardashians

Keeping Up With The Kardashians is by no means the only reality show to document the ins and outs of daily life for a crazy family in the public eye. Braxton Family Values does the same, although, as the Braxtons’ devoted Facebook fans have argued, these ladies actually have talent. But according to Toni Braxton, her family’s series was originally inspired by the Kardashians’ popular show.

Without Keeping Up With The Kardashians, there may have never been Braxton Family Values. During a recent interview with HuffPost Live, superstar Toni Braxton admitted that she had never considered the prospect of getting her family involved in reality television until she watched Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and the rest of the gang on E! Toni explained, “I love the Kardashians and what it shows is family power…They were a trendsetter and the Kardashians helped us get on the air as a reality show.”

Toni’s compliments are a bit unexpected in light of how she and her sisters have treated her reality television counterparts in the past. In one particularly memorable episode of Braxton Family Values, Toni made fun of her sister’s crazy dance moves, comparing her to Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. More recently, Tamar Braxton has spoken ill of Kylie Jenner, calling out the young reality star for dating Tyga. Kylie responded by throwing shade at Tamar, launching what could eventually become a hardcore Twitter feud. Will Toni’s claims of Kardashian admiration smooth things over? Only time will tell!
