Mo’Nique monologue to appear on Pulse

Toni Braxton has enlisted some of entertainment’s biggest stars for her new album including Trey Songz, Robin Thicke, and Usher, and now she’s rounding out the prestigious list with an Oscar nominee.

Comedian-turned-actress Mo’Nique, who is up for an Academy Award for her role in Precious, makes a cameo on Braxton’s sixth studio album. “She does a monologue on one of my songs,” the R&B diva exclusively tells Rap-Up.com. The track was inspired by Oran “Juice” Jones’ 1986 hit “The Rain.”

“It’s about this relationship where this guy finds out his girl is cheating on him. We do a song, it doesn’t sound anything like that, but it’s the reverse of a guy who gets busted cheating. [Mo'Nique] does this whole monologue and it’s really funny and comedic.”

The Grammy winner reached out to the Golden Globe winner, who happily obliged. “She said, ‘Oh my God, I’d love to do it.’ I’ve always been a fan of hers and we’re both from Maryland. I love her.”

The winning combination can be heard on Pulse, due May 4. Until then, the “Un-Break My Heart” singer is rooting for her friend at next month’s Oscar ceremony. “We’re great friends, she’s really cool. I’m really excited for her about her Oscar.”

Toni Reaches Out to Usher

Toni Braxton has dueted (and locked lips) with Trey Songz already, and now the sexy songstress has her sights set on another one of R&B’s leading men.

The star of the upcoming reality show “Braxton Family Values” is planning a collaboration with Usher for her Atlantic Records debut Pulse. “I think me and Usher are gonna do something together,” she exclusively tells Rap-Up.com. “Usher’s great. He’s like my brother in the business. Love, love, love him! We’re both represented by AEG [Live CEO] Randy Phillips, so Randy’s gonna definitely make it happen.”

Now she’s just waiting for Usher to jump on the record. “I did my part. I called him the Friday before the Super Bowl and said, ‘You have to hear it, Usher.’ He said, ‘I can’t hear it over the phone. After the Super Bowl I’ll hear it.’ We just haven’t connected since Sunday.”

Braxton’s sixth studio album has been pushed back from its original February date because seven out of 10 tracks leaked prior to release. She is adding new material before the rescheduled May 4 date. “It’s top secret now. They won’t even send any of the songs over the Internet. Everything has to be FedExed.”

Pulse boasts production from Lucas Secon (Britney Spears), Harvey Mason Jr. & Oak (Chris Brown), and Troy Taylor (Whitney Houston), as well as collaborations with Robin Thicke and Trey Songz (“Yesterday”).

Toni Braxton Makes The 50 Greatest Sex Songs List

cat_06

Toni Braxton lands number 15 on Billboards The 50 Greatest Sex Songs List with “You’re Making Me High” speaking at number one on Hot 100 Peak on July 27th 1996, billboard says.

Toni Braxton is singing about her sexual desires for a far-away lover on this mellow, suggestive track, but verses like the one below make the song seem like an endorsement of self-stimulation. If you can’t be with the one you love … love yourself?

Sexiest lyric: “I can imagine you touching my private parts/ With just the thought of you, I can’t help but touch myself”

Lady Gaga and Bono will reportedly join the galaxy of stars coming together to record a remake of “We Are the World” on Monday (February 1). They will join Usher, Jason Mraz, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Carlos Santana, Enrique Iglesias, Toni Braxton and other undisclosed artists.

Lionel Richie, who co-wrote the charity single with Michael Jackson, is working with Quincy Jones (the song’s original producer) to organize the 25th anniversary remake to benefit Haiti relief. According to E! Online, Richie and Jones recruited Bono and Gaga at the Grammys on Sunday night. Frequent Gaga collaborator RedOne will help produce the track, which is said to include more than 100 participants.

“It’s like the biggest honor in life to get a call from our father in music, Quincy Jones,” he told E!.

Trey Songz told MTV News at the Grammy Awards that Stevie Wonder got him involved in the project, following their appearance together at the BET Honors last month. Songz could barely describe how honored he was to be a part of this new project.

“Oh, man, it’s … I don’t even know if I can find a word for what that is,” he said. “[It's] one of the biggest songs in history. Man, the list [of performers] is crazy. I couldn’t even begin to tell you. I got it in my phone.”

The original “We Are the World,” recorded in 1985, brought together artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and Cyndi Lauper to aid famine victims in Africa.
