Fantasia Talks Toni Braxton
It is no secret in the music industry that Toni Braxton has lost her passion when it comes to recording new music. Many artists have weighed in their thoughts on the super stars decision to quit music, including American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino.
Fantasia tells Singersroom.com, “I watched the Braxton show and I was listening to Toni Braxton…she was talking about how she lost the passion and the love for music, and I almost broke down and cried. You look back at all the things she’s done, and her talent is amazing, and for somebody that was born into music, literally is music, to say that they don’t have that passion anymore, it broke my heart”
The singer who has also thought about quitting music continues, “I think that comes from all the other drama and all the other dumb stuff that comes with the industry now…For me, I don’t ever want to get to that point, and I was almost at that point! I’m here to bless the people that listen to me.”

Artist Urge Toni to Return to Music
Toni Braxton dropped a bombshell when she said that she was done with music. In the weeks following her announcement, the R&B icon has received an outpouring of support from her peers. While hosting her sister Tamar’s Backyard Boogie Baby Shower at the Hotel Bel-Air, the oldest Braxton spoke out about her leave of absence from the industry.
“I’m kinda still on the done with music side, but we’ll see,” she told Rap-Up TV. “I haven’t done any recording, nothing in the studio.”
Some of her famous friends including Anita Baker, Babyface, and Missy Elliott have tried to encourage her to get back in the studio. “Missy called me. [She said], ‘I’ll be in town, come by, just come say hi,’” she shared. “They’re kinda tryna push me to do something. But I love them for that and it makes me feel so much better ’cause I don’t feel so alone.”
She’s not the only superstar who fell out of love with music. “Someone told me Barbra Streisand, who is like the queen bee, felt the same way, but she didn’t do it for 10 years,” said Toni.
Even if it takes that long, she sees the silver lining. “Maybe I’ll be a better singer ’cause I feel like Barbra got even better, so we’ll see.”

Toni on Tamar’s Baby, “It’s a Boy!”
If you’ve ever watched Braxton Family Values then you’ll know how crazy the musical family is, but also how much they truly adore each other.
And the love was definitely flowing on Sunday afternoon at the baby shower of Tamar Braxton who is expecting her first child this Spring.
OKMagazine.com was in attendance at the carnival-themed, “Backyard Boogie Baby Shower” at Hotel Bel Air where rapper T.I. and wife Tiny came along to show their support as well as family matriarch Evelyn and sisters Towanda, Traci and Trina. Trina turned up wearing a fluffy pink onesie which caused Tamar to question, “What the hell are you wearing?”
Tamar’s older sister and musical sensation Toni Braxton let slip that the mommy-to-be is in fact expecting a boy with husband Vincent! The event was filmed as part of the second season of the couple’s WE TV reality show, Tamar & Vince.
OK!: Tamar is so outspoken, how do you think the baby is going to be?
Toni Braxton: He’s going to be the opposite of Tamar. It’s a boy so I think he’s going to be more like his dad. A little bit more laid back and reserved.
OK!: How excited are you to be an auntie again?
Toni Braxton: I’m excited. This is the last one, the last of my sisters having a baby so I’m really excited out of all of them that it’s Tamar because she kept saying she didn’t want to be a mom but I knew deep down inside she would eventually change her mind. It took a little longer than we thought but it’s here.
OK!: Your sisters say you give a lot of unsolicited advice – what parenting advice have you given to Tamar?
Toni Braxton: It told her that motherhood is the most fun you’ll ever have but the perpetual fatigue you will always have and don’t push yourself too hard to try and be this perfect mother because you’ll make a lot of boo boos but just have fun with it. And get some good bras because your boobies will sag, and you can buy yourself some new one but in the meantime get some good bras.
OK!: What’s all this we hear about you retiring from the music industry?
Toni Braxton: Yes it’s what I’m feeling, I’m here, my mom says I’m a little depressed, we’ll see. In the meantime I want to do more acting. There’s a Lifetime movie I’m in talks to do so I’m excited about that. But I have been thinking about music because I’m really fortunate to have a lot of really great people around me. Babyface has been reaching out, Anita Baker who is my idol has called me and was like, ‘What are you doing? It’s not time, no way, I’ve felt that way but no.’ Apparently everyone’s gone through this, it’s normal, you got to get through it. You have to push yourself and make yourself do it so we’ll see.
Tamar also shared what she’s most looking forward to most in becoming a mom and her crazy cravings!
OK!: What are you most looking forward to in becoming a mother?
Tamar Braxton: I’m looking forward to the changes. I don’t know what’s to come so I’m just looking forward to the change and just trying to figure out how I’m going to figure it out. I think it’s going to be exciting.
OK!: What cravings have you had?
Tamar Braxton: Salt. I love potato chips, I’ll do anything for a potato chip, I’ll tap dance, I stand on my head and spin nickles for a potato chip. I love potato chips.
OK!: What advice has your sisters given you regarding becoming a mom?
Tamar Braxton: First of all Toni Braxton is the number one person who thinks she knows everything. So she won’t let me lift things and she wants me to wear flats all the time she’s going to have a fit about these shoes right now but I don’t care.
OK!: You look great, have you been conscious of the baby weight gain?
Tamar Braxton: Yes God! (laughs) I went to the doctors and I gained 50lbs so far! Devastated! (laughs)

Returning to Music?
LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Does Toni Braxton leave the music business? Toni Braxton tells Babyface tonight on Braxton Family Values that she is leaving the music business. But does she really leave, and does Babyface change her mind?
Babyface first reveals a long well known, but not often discussed, Braxton Family tension. “You know what attracted me to you in the first place is the pain in your voice.”
Toni pauses and tells viewers “I know what Babyface is referring.” She said it’s the family tension, “that he and LA Reid signed me but not my sisters” for her album deal with La Face Records. Toni adds “and I remembering feeling torn about it. I felt saddened about it. Even when my moment happened, I knew that I was suddenly solo then.”
But does she leave? Babyface tells her to stay. “People let you in throughout your hear break through your music. Unhappy in love. They felt like they were apart of you. And now you are shutting people out.”
Toni’s last album was her sixth studio album Pulse in 2010. In January 2013 she told news ‘I’m just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects.”
She also told news “I hate to have reality star behind my name. That’s just not what I wanted to be when I grew up.” She added “For me it’s challenging because the artists that I grew up to be; me, the late great Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, we were taught to be aloof. No one needs to know about your life. But now in the age of reality you have to talk about your life and expose it.”
Toni does return to music. Her new album is Chapter VIII: The Encore of a Gemstone. Braxton is coming out in July 2013. She was initially set to release Heartstrings and Synagogue Vibes in 2012.
